Hey all, I've just got one of these: Hiper HPU-4M670 Type R 670W ATX2.2.
Loads of cables etc which is good, but I have one criticism: the electrical style crackling noise!
At first I thought it was a fan snagging on a cable (new build), but on closer inspection it sounds exactly like the noise your PC power socket would make if you unpluged the 3pin power lead, (with current flowing, PC off) then plugged it back in slowly so the contacts were not firmly seated.
Since building the machine yesterday - installing windows etc, for over 5 hours it was crackling away happily to itself and only for about 10 minutes did the suspicious 'noise' cease.
Suggestion please. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just 'running in' or should I send it back to the supplyer on the grounds that somewhere it's duff inside or it wouldn't be making any noise whatsoever.
It all seems to work, except for the noise...

You did read peoples increasing problems over hipers on this forum right?

Ditched mine because it was doing crackling noise , failing to sometimes boot the pc and causing freeze ups

My Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular has just failed after about a years use. It made a high pitched noise, then stopped working. I'm not even going to bother with an RMA as you have to pay postage back to base and the other failures on these forums have put me off installing another Hiper. I've ordered a Tagan.

Thanks guys, I have sent a webnote to OcUK bods concerning the matter, enquiring as to the most exdpedient means to get this solved. With any luck it'll get sorted.
I have to say though, it's a bit of a pain in the backside that a manufacturer releases possibly defective goods priced to the better part of amost £100.00; I could understand these issues with a cheapo generic PSU, but not with a product in this price-range. :(

you dont hear about all the people with working ones though

since they seem good value for money im guessing these have sold very very well at ocuk meaning theres loads of us out there with them.

mines been fine anyway but ive never had a problem with any psu before.

Did you have to pay for the postage when you returned it? I need to send my back so i'm interested to know.

Yes, it cost £18.50  at the post office for next day recorded delivery, or around a tenner (give or take a few quid) for 1st/2nd class which would take about 3-5 days.
