Hiring "kids" to do landscaping

Health and safety. Pfft. We used to go bailing in the summer. You know, those things that rip farmers arms off. And we used to stack them on to the back of trailers and sit on top while the farmer drove them back to the farm down the roads.
That’s nothing. When I were a lad we had to walk 40miles in the snow in our bare feet just to borrow a shovel to clear the snow so we could get out of the house in the first place.

I remember doing some hedge clearing for a neighbour when I was about 12/13. I think I was given a pair of thick gloves and secateurs and basically was chopping the looser branches that the neighbour had cut off ready to stick in the bin.

I also recall doing some block paving driveway cleaning with some hand tool to pull out the moss between bricks.

Can't imagine any serious injuries from either of those types of tasks. Might have got a few pricks from the hedging, or maybe some grazing from the driveway, but goes to show the mental-ness of today when you have to worry about liability insurance.

Jeez I did grass cutting / washing cars in the Summer at 12/13 years old for honestly a few quid extra money to spend lol. What's the issue O_o
