HIS X1900XT possible faults?

hello all

does anyone here own a His x1900xt and had any problems with theirs?

2 screens is using mine:

nec 20gwx
eizo 17tft

here the issues i get with mine after random system boots this error just occurs on the screen:

- constant flickering and screen shifting and this pink box or shade in the screen stays there and flickers some time.

what do you guys make of this anyway?

are there any test you guys suggest i could do to test the gpu further?

never seen that before mate but it doesnt look good, try different cat drivers, reseating the card etc and if that dont work then im pretty sure the card is knackered, sorry bud

but it starts from the bios i cant see the drivers doing something this bad from the bios?

when i got my HIS X1900XT IceQ3 card, i plugged mine in right away, and i also was running dual screen, one screen did the same thing as you have in the screenshot. This was quickly solved by uninstalling my nvidia drivers as i previously had a GeForce 7800GTX and installing the latest Catalyst drivers, and i haven't seen the problem since. For you it might be worth reinstalling drivers or run driver cleaner.

if its in the bios ts nothing to do with drivers.
have you got access to another PC to try it in?

this was the same problem after several new windows xp installs, so from the seceen there no drivers were even installed at that point?

i dont think its the drivers to be honest.

naaa i just sent it to ocuk today should be there with them tommorow?

i reckon it will be back here say by next week.

i,m thinking of getting a 7900gtx to replace this?

what do you think of that card compare to the ati?

Have to agree, drivers would'nt be loaded at that point.

Id read up about the 7900's reliability probs first if i were you.

As the 7900's are borked, they are in the process of being fixed now though, theres absolutely shed loads of threads on here about them, and even Nvidia have said they are borked, EVGA are the only ones i know of at the moment that are fixed, so if your going to go for one go EVGA.

7900 GTX is about on par with the x1900, it uses less power, gives out less heat, and is quieter though, but they can't do HDR+AA like ATi's can.

Its true though.

As ive also said though EVGA are the ones to go for as far as i know at the minute as they are fixed apparently.

Its not an excuse to knock them, think you need to go to specsavers to as the 7900's do have a reliabilty issue, do a search, its well documented, and is in the process of being fixed as i said, the 7900's are cracking cards, but the fact is they do have a reliability issue, and thats no bull.

Well to be fair i said it was in the process of being fixed, hence why i mentioned to go for EVGA, as i heard they were fixed ones, im not sure on other brands though, so if he's going for a 7900 GTX then id say EVGA to be safe.

You see you said its a chance to knock them, but then you mention the reliabilty problem yourself, so why are you knocking them then. :confused:

I can't see the problem myself, he asked about the 7900 GTX, i was letting him know to be carefull as they have issues. :confused:

The issue has been addressed,just like the bugs for many new conroe mobo's.Thats the nature of technology.

Yep it is, but thats not a reliabilty issue, its just a possible faulty card.
