Hit a pot hole damaged tyre

Hopefully alloy is OK but that tyre needs changing ASAP.

Sadly a lot of that happening at the moment but mostly people on low profile tyres, unfortunately larger profile only reduces the chances.

Indeed check online - if not get some photos too (showing scale) to try and support claim.

( e: how obscure was location in N Cambs you have to always be driving defensively )

I used my Pothole insurance 2yrs for a knackered tyre and buckle wheel.

Sent all photos, location etc to my insurer and they dealt with it. Insurer had my wheel fixed as it was cheaper than trying to find one & had a full suspension/drivetrain check

Local council didn't contest it but I suspect them trying to fight an insurance company and their lawyers would have cost them more.

Cost me my £10 excess

And next renewal they will hike it up now i guess!

I was successful with a council pot hole claim last year. Thankfully just a tyre but it was only a few weeks old (after having just replaced it after the wife smacked a kerb )

I’m just going to suck it up, it was a few miles from where I live.
You should still be able to claim. Even if they agree to repair the damage, you'd have to get it fixed first and then attempt to claim for the cost of the repair, or argue a % of it.

Don’t I know it after this morning’s expensive mishap

ive changed 3 tyres in 2 years because of potholes in lincolnshire, just yesterday afternoon i had 2 rears put on in kwikfit as left side got deflated after a pot hole, drove to nearest garage but tyre was cut, but kwikfit are now offering insurance for tyre damage from potholes for £11 a tyre they quoted me for a year

ADAS systems like BYD's prototype that can spot pot-holes (in lieu of the driver observation) with lidar should attract lower insurance premium,
maybe standard fit higher profile tyres already do too (can insurance claims on non-factory, non-notified rims be rejected)
