Hit a pothole...

Secondly, both fronts were Michelin PS4's with about 3.5-4mm of tread. I obviously need at least one new one, but would you replace both fronts at the same time? The difference in tread depth is making me a bit cautious, but is it something to worry about?

If it was 5mm then i'd just replace 1, but at 3.5mm there's not that much life left so better to replace both (and you could always get another rim and stick the 3.5mm one on as a full size spare)

I would've done that, but the 208's come with a full size spare in the boot anyway. I'll go with the consensus and replace both and might be able to get a few £ for the remaining PS4.

Peugot don't give you a key that you had to lend to recovery company ?
easy with hindsighjt but a dry runs useful ... like fitting snow chains

Yeah I have the locking wheel bolt key, but the wrench that comes with the car is only about 20cm long and just twisted when I put torque on it. No problem at home with a proper toolkit, but I don't want to go around with a breaker bar and torque wrench in the boot.

Explain the shear bolt aspect of the story.

Case scenario 1. Local ****** remove locking bolt successfully and nick your wheel
Case scenario 2. Local ****** shear off locking bolt but there is a risk of damage to wheel when local grease monkeys attempt to remove it from hub.

Get a drill out.
Really really easy to remove them with the correct HHS drill bits and a bolt extractor.

That video described it perfectly.get it done.

I had to do this due to some real rubbish "tuner lug nuts". Do not buy cheap drill bits. Dormer HSS cost around £80 for a set but are worth their weight in gold. Couple with cutting compound and you will be okay.

cobalt drill bits are pretty good though - £5'ish a throw; start with a centre punch, small hole and build to a bigger size ? recently drilled out some bolts with a light oil lubricant.
