Hitachi deskstar

Have a sata hitachi deskstar, it has two power connections! and old 4 pin connection and new sata power connection why? and are both required to be connected?

its just their for people running PSU's that don't have sata power connectors or that don't have the molex adapter's i imagine

You only use one or the other though - don't use both!!

i think it mentions something about the dual power input's on top the drive and says only to use one aswell.
