Hitachi or W.Digital?

go for reliability, the deathstars are world renoun for high failure rate.
Mav, stop posting tripe. You obviously know nothing about Hitachi - IBM produced two models, the GXP60 and GXP75 and these were the deathstars - do you even know the reason why? There was a flaw with the bearings/head system used and as a result, lots failed. This was fixed a very long time ago. Stop making me have to correct you in every thread. You have little knowledge of HDU's and yet post misinformation in every thread where a Hitachi is mentioned. It might even amount to spamming. Hitachi drives are of very high quality and IBM have nothing to do with hard drives anymore.

Seagate 7200.9 purely for the 5 year warranty. There's very little between hard drives these days, maybe a few mb/sec here or extra SATA-II features here but a 5 yr warrenty does put it slightly ahead in my book. Hitachi, WD, Seagate, etc. are all pretty much the same, Maxtors are a bit ify as there have been a few issues with them. Most recent one being an incompatibility between certain DM10 drives and the NF4 chipset.
