Im am hovering around the ocuk shop with the intention of buying some new drives. Been looking at:
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (0F10383) [HDS721010CLA332]
or
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000524AS) [ST31000524AS]
Seagate were my fave at one point but then had faliures, western digital and samsung followed suit. I tend to avoid hitachi for some unknown reason? I have some 160gb drives that are working perfectly and they are quite old now but are still going strong. So im leaning towards hitachi now but are they a safe bet these days? I need storage space that will be reliable and not implode after 6 months.

You'll find for any hard drive brand there are people who have bitter experiences to tell. Samsung and Western Digital would be my picks
