Hitman Trilogy - Purchase query

Hi all,

I really want to get into the Hitman Trilogy after watching a number of videos by MATN and playing the "free" version of Hitman 2. However the various purchase options available have left me scratching my head on the best (read: cheapest) way of going about it.

Essentially I want to be able to play all of the main missions from Hitman 1 through to 3 with the enhancements brought about by 3 on my Series X (so 60fps etc).

From what I understand, you can buy H3 and then from within the game purchase the access passes to the previous content (presumably this takes you to the Xbox store). This sounds straight forward, however on the store front there are more than one access pass options available at varying prices albeit all with the exact same description (IIRC from £30 to £75). I assume these relate to the H1, H2 and combined options?!

This seems like quite an expensive way of going about it.

So now I am done waffling my main query is whether I can buy H1 (GOTY), H2 (Gold) and H3 all separately via digital keys (found them for £13, £15 and £45 respectively) and achieve the same result. From what I have read, if you own the previous games the option to "import" or add them to H3 becomes available. (Please note - I don't need to worry about carrying forward saves or anything like that).

Are there any other hoops that have to be jumped through to ensure it all works (say ensuring H1 and H2 are installed prior to launching H3)?

I feel daft asking what appears to be such a simply question, but I was originally working on the assumption that you could just buy a version of H3 that had everything directly from the store front (in fact I am sure this was an option prior to H3 launch?!).

Cheers in advance. :)

Not daft at all, IOI unfortunately managed to make the whole process rather convoluted and confusing, not helped by the previous two games being made available in umpteen different ways (individual episodes, starter packs, Silver and Gold Editions etc).

I think you’ve got it mostly right but I have an inkling that you need to download Hitman 1 first and log in and then you do the same with Hitman 2 so that 2 knows you own 1 and then you can download 3.

There is a FAQ on IOI.dk which might clarify it all.

Thanks both :)

I must say this is the first time where I have been genuinely left scratching my head on how convoluted the whole process seems to be.

IIRC I rebought HM2 through the HM3 page on the Epic Game Store (I know... I know) and but was gifted a key for HM1 on the EGS and it recognized it fine from within HM3 once it was installed normally.

However you get it working, you are in for a treat - I went through the trilogy in one slog and its great.

For anyone looking to get it all on PS5, Hitman 2 Gold is currently on sale in the PS store and 1 has been free on PS+.

Should cover more or less everything I think.

Just did it. Took a bit of faffing about but it upgrades the PS+ version of Hitman to the GotY edition in the process so that's absolutely everything in Hitman 3 for £15.99.
