Does anyone have the Hive 2? BG came to service my boiler and left me some Hive literature. The new Hive seems to look the business. I understand the Honeywell EvoHome is the best but I think it will be way out of my price range. I'm thinking of a Hive 2 with some Danfoss Living Eco TVRs.

Can the Hive 2 do, multiple zones ?

Currently have a thermostat upstairs to control everything apart form the lounge which is on its own system due to when the log burner is on.

I think Hive 2 is just a new aesthetically pleasing thermostat with the same functionality as the old Hive 1... no multiple zones.

I have Hive 1 and its been faultless so far.

It depends on how all your rads are routed. It could be a simple T junction and some return valves or some major pipe work to get alter it.

I've had nothing but problems with Hive from the moment it was installed.

British gas support has been as useless as reliability of the web interface, hub and the app!

I wouldn't recommend the hive 2 as it uses the same app and interface

and how you know its not a problem with your internet or your router? if its a web interface/app your having problems with you need to be looking there or get an engineer out

fitted loads of hives never a problem

It sends correct temperature to the app so there is comms between them, the web app says that it can talk to all of them, just a flakey app unfortunately.

I have been on contact with them to no avail, having already taken holiday whilst waiting for a BG Engineer to not turn up I'm loathe to waste yet more of my time!

Go to manage devices on the web interface - remove and add them again.

Not had this problem myself but it appears the setup on your web interface is incorrect.

I've got the Hive system 1 and it's been great :-)

Been debating the £100 upgrade to the Hive 2 thermostat - my brain says no but my heart says yes!

Thinking about the Hive 2 system for our new house. The EvoHome is too much money, but the Hive 2 does heating, hot water, multizones, plugs and door sensors. Seems like a good bit of kit.
Anyone got experience of the Hive 2?

I originally wanted Hive but looking at Evohome, it looks like it does it properly where Hive and Nest are just connected thermostats with some smart features. Evohome is full room by room control, together with weather and opentherm should offer the best efficiency.

FYI, Screwfix currently have the self-install version for £125 and Amazon are price matching. I now have no excuse so it looks like I have a new DIY job for the weekend. :)

I've been looking at Hive over Nest - I'm still torn which one to go for, I think Hive ticks the boxes for me more... but still researching.

I went for Nest over Hive. I preferred the learning features, thermostat and general ease of use compared to Hive. That said, Hive 2 is still a good product, just not as innovative compared to Nest.

Working in the innovation sphere (albeit engineering and construction) I do like the features of Nest.... I'm rather torn!

Go Nest, you won't regret it. I also feel that having the financial weight of Google behind them, that there will hopefully be decent support given to it for a long time to come.

One of the main reasons that I went for Hive is that I currently have a British Gas UP2 controller and to change to the Hive is a simple job of taking off the front plate and snapping the Hive onto the existing backplate. No re-wiring, nothing. Brilliant. :D

I have the Hive 1 system with Danfoss Living Eco TRVs and its been great. Had the wifi hub die once, but replaced quickly with no issues and was able to continue using in standalone mode. I would recommend it, however moving house shortly and think i will go for the Honeywell Evohome system there.
