You can add HDR to it too! The HDR in EP1 is quite something.

you shouldnt get stuttering, your pc is more than capable of handling it...

maybe tone down the graphics to 1024 x 768 then you should be fine.

It would run pretty damn well. I take it you have Half-Life 2? If so, just download the Lost Coast, that'll show you how it'll run really.

I have a 6800 GT @ 400/1100, 1gb geil value ram, 3.4 winchester and it ran fine at the settings you want, i had HDR on as well. Yours should run fine at them settings.

Its pretty good Ep1 short but sweet, i cant wait for Ep2 :) .

Yeah i have HL2.
IIRC though, Lost Coast didnt run too well. But that was when i have a 3000+ and not my X2.

##EDIT##
I'll give it a bash now, see how it plays...

Lost coast runs considerably slower than the majority of EP1. Seriously, to me it felt like EP1 ran smoother than HL2; in particular the stuttering was noticeably reduced.

Sadly you're X2 will not yield any performance improvements over the 3000+ since the HL2 engine isn't multithreaded, well the last time I checked anyway.

As said, it should run fine. But if it can't cut it with AA/AF, then turn down the AA/AF and not the HDR.

HDR > AA/AF it just looks better.

EDIT: Can the X800 series even do AA with HDR?!? i've forgotten :o

I know. But my X2 is 200Mhz faster than my 3000+ anyway, so theres a small increase. :p

Well ive just done a stress test, it gave me 57.6fps, and then played through it, seemed a little slow.
Thats running at 1280x1024 w/ 2xAA, 16xAF, HDR on, and reflect world (not all).

What about turning down the AF, never know how much performance is affected by it tbh
Not a lot.
Perf AF on ATI cards is practically free. Offers the quality of near to 8x Quality, but for free. Ive never seen more than a 5 frame difference with it on or off. Usually below 2 frames.

the fact that i 've had so many problems with it?
That has no bearing on a game engines ability to run HDR with specific graphics cards though does it. ;)

Should be ok. I played on a similar system (~3800+, 6800u, 1gig PC3700 cas2) in 1280x960 0xAA 8xAF with mostly high settings iirc.
