I don't think sand & cement can handle the "delicate" nature of the power output of Dave.

This is after a 10 second run .....

Think i'm going to be recementing it and drilling in a few lengths of threadbar. Gah, nearly there :)

Need to consider sorting the exhaust too ...

I'm sure that, if the OP were in some sort of context, it would be a rip-snorting belter of a thread.

As it stands, however, I must ask: What the unfettered, bubbling, popinjay **** are you blathering on about?

surely you jest? EVERYONE knows about dave.... :p

dave is sb118s new(ish) generator that runs on vegetable oil. been several threads about various stages of getting it going, including one where he managed to injure himslef with the crank-starter handle...

try a stronger mix, that looks like pressed sand more than morter.

Other than that, build a wooden frame and bolt it to the floor

looks to me like you didn't use enough cement in the mortar and you didn't let it dry completely before you started the beast. a bit of bar down through the pillar fill fix it perfectly, if you've got a long drill you should be able to repair it, if not it's rebuild pillar around the bar time. You could always use a brick pillar with a core containing rebar and concrete for a really strong solution.

Yup, time to remix and reattach the top blocks. Trolley jack up the kit, hack off the old stuff and rework it. Got an 18" 10mm bit here so i'll drill down through, fill the holes with cement and slap some threadbar into the holes to straighten things up. I used some resin stuff in the past to make a secure fixing into a wall but i don't know where i put it :(

whats it powering?

Nothing yet, but it's going to be supply hot water for a rudimentary central heating system, and electricity to cover the bulk of the flats power requirements.

yup :D

A social club on one side who like to keep us awake late at weekends (only fair to return the favour ;)) and everybody else sould hardly hear it with the soundproofing i've put into the shed.

erm plasticiser and more actual cement from the look of that :p (damping the bricks can sometimes help too). Or use engineering bricks and rebar.

It did get the "hammer and boot" test to check everything was secure, think i need a bigger hammer!
