My previous homeplugs or on RMA at the moment so I bought some 85mbps ones from a competitor which are branded by them until I get my replacement.

Anyways, I plug them in and cannot get a speed above 2mbps on the net. They are plugged in the lounge and the computers are in the kitchen so they are on the same ring and I would say no more than 10m between each other.

I have tried all the sockets in the lounge and 2 in the kitchen but still no joy.

The strange thing is, the ping times are the same as when I go direct through cat5.

Am I wasting my time trying anything else or shall I send them back under the DSR?

By the way, the previous homeplugs worked flawelessly until one gained a fault.

How strange. I get up this morning, plug them in and get no problems at all out of them

I turned everything on. TV, Washing Machine, Sky box, cooker and they sill give a constant signal. Not sure if its a noise issue on an evening so will see.

I seem to have found the issue.

As soon as my daughter switched her pc on, the homeplugs were dropping signal considerably. I bought a surge protector, plugged her pc into it and voila, no more signal drop. It must have been quite a bit of noise from her cheap PSU and the surge protector seems to have done the trick. :)
