Ho Hum... Boy am I getting fed up with this Samsung system

I think I am going to go with either the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, or the Tamron 10-24mm.

Of those two, it's likely to be the Sigma. Just going to have to hope the next gen Sony bodies still have focus motor.

Then just one more lens - the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8... but really not in a rush for that right now, as the Tammy 70-300 USD is better than I was expecting

That's the Sigma ordered.

Paid a little more than I really needed to in order to support a brick and mortar shop in East Yorkshire, but I like dealing with them, and the guy I deal with there seems like a nice chap :)

I've just invested in an A65 with the 18-135 kit lens, and am looking to get the Sigma next - would be very interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Will do.

I was very interested in the 18-135mm, but ended up getting the Sigma 17-50mm for the constant 2.8 aperture, to keep the ISO down - being that ISO not an SLT strong point.

How do you find it?

I may still invest in it one day. Would make a nice combo with the Tamron 70-300mm.

Think I am going to end up with a three kit set on day:
1) Single lens
the Sigma 18-250

2) The "lighter" multi-lens set
Something like the 18-135mm
Tamron 70-300
+Maybe the wide if felt like it.

3) The "heavy" set for when am happy to lug a lot
17-50mm f2.8
70-200 f2.8
+ Maybe 150mm Macro and wide-angle if I felt like it.

I do also have a Sony 35mm f1.8 arriving today, which will just slot in where ever :)

Though in no rush to get the last two lenses to complete that collection - the 70-200mm and the 18-135mm

I'm finding the 18-135 to be a very versatile lens; it's reasonably compact and light so just about one-hand manageable when required :)

I like the idea of a constant aperture lens as well, however the 16-50 Sony is a little pricey for me - perhaps I should look at the Sigma one you've got.

I don't really want to get into the 'heavy' kit at the moment, and will probably go for the 70-300mm as my next lens purchase. Could you pm me and let me know where you got it from? cheers.

Is the Sony 35mm you're getting the SAM-driven version?

Yeah, the Sony lenses are often not simply expensive, but really overpriced in my opinion. Though not always.

The Sigma serves me well, and when they generally seem to sell for £500, there couple places that currently have them at £320, so didn't hesitate. Think it was warehouse exchange I got mine.

I defo got the Tamron 70-300 USD from there. The going price seems about £300,

More I think about it, more I will definitely pick up the 135 some day.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm finding that this new hobby of mine is getting expensive! :)

Indeed, so am I.

I remember when I first started looking beginning of year, I was initially considering a bridge camera and was baulking at the price of the FZ200 at just over £400.

I really, really didn't want a DSLR for the bulk/weight, and I know I am obsessive, so knew I wouldn't be able to stop myself buying loads of lenses. But I wanted better pic quality than a bridge could provide.

My camera and lenses now total £2250! Without considering filters, tripods, etc.

With a grands (or bit more) worth of lenses I still want. I do still quite fancy the Tamron 60mm f2 macro as well :(

It's a pity the Samsung didn't work out for me as it cut down on bulk considerably, but now that I have the a65, I am enjoying it immensely.

PS - yes, the 35mm is the SAM version.

I have a sure-fire safeguard against overspending on 'nice' things like that - it is known as 'The Missus' :)

Had a long day out planned for today, but wasn't feeling up to 8 hours exploring, so ended up going down to the river (Again).

Wasn't there more than a few minutes before realising didn't have my phone, and was supposed to be calling up the other half to arrange somewhere to meet for lunch, so ended up going pretty much straight home after a couple of minutes quick snapping.

Perhaps I have not given the lens enough of a chance, but it is the first lens out of all those I have bought for the alpha where I wasn't really impressed early on, and already find myself wishing had gone for the 8-16mm.

I think I was spoiled by the Samsung 12-24mm. It was exceptional.

I will go out with it again earlyish tomorrow and give it more of a chance.
