Is that car worse than a Mk3 Astra? It would be nice if there existed a car thought to be worse than mine.

Everything is wrong with a Mk3, it's probably one of the worst cars ever made. It was given a lucky break in the sense that its main competitor, the Ford Escort, acheived the practically impossible task of being as bad, if not worse.
No wonder the Golf gained an image of being like a Bentley compared to Vauxhall and Ford. The mid 90's were dark days for the hatchback market
To my eyes, this car has one sole purpose. It looks nice and girly, its fine for girls to toddle down to the shops in, and at the same time it makes them appear more attractive than they actually are.
In my experience, people who usually buy this type of car couldn't care less about the finer points of handling dynamics and its certainly not a car I'd entertain buying....
BUT I don't think this car was ever intended to be the ultimate B road weapon or motorway cruiser. So in a class where it doesn't have many competitors - if at all - at this price range, why is it so bad? It meets its target audiences expectations, is readily available in pretty colours, and lets girls get topless

That was my take on it, don't see the problem unless I personally had to drive it.

Of course the el cheapo nasty alloys have a fractionally too tall ridge where the rim of the tyre pops out to meet the edge of the rim. Instead of the usual 40-45psi to "pop" the tyre onto the rim, these both took a bit more, the first took 90psi, the second went early at 70psi.
Yes, it certainly did cure the constipation.

God I hate peugeots. Ugly, all the ones i've driven have been crap, no feel to the steering, pedals too light, boring power delivery, they just seem to be rubbish all around, horrible depressing to drive.

I dunno the 306 was pretty decent. I used to have a thing for the Reno 19 aswell
we had a 306 1.8XT for 8 years, one of the first off the production line. the only thing that went wrong was that it didn't like cold mornings, and it leaked in carwashes, as i pulled away the rubber lining around the door when being taken to/from school so i could look out of the resulting gap
but i guess the fact that we only covered 45,000km in those 8 years probably helped
Well after a glorious week of ownership, the central locking has packed up, first one door stopped responding, then the system is totally dead.
And unlike the 306 where you could just resolder the door loom connectors, on the 206 you actually have to spend money and get a replacement locking motor. yay.

Does adding (or removing) central locking (or alarm, for that matter) count as a mod, that needs to be declared on insurance?
Indeed, I've ordered a GTD but there's a 3 month lead time on them!
Absolutely crazy policy the company has - you can't choose your hire car, so not only is this slow and unconfortable but it's also costing me a fair chunk in BIK as the co2 isn't great!
Why oh why they couldn't just give me an oil burner I'll never know. I have to thrash it so hard to get anywhere I'm getting 38mpg. Used to get 30 in the ST!

Got £2975 for it, so after the bits it has had we've only lost around £150. She's happy to tell me that it's cheaper than renting one for a month ....
