Won't that be cheaper to get somewhere the same in this country? Seeing a lot of brits who do that never step off the front porch of the resort anyway, so why pay all that airfare to see in a puddle of water that could be anywhere?

Granted, if its a real beach then it's different, but then still......may be it's just me that i want to actually see new things on a trip, not sleeping in the sun.

Won't it be cheaper? no! Not by a long shot I bet.
Find me a equivalent hotel and facilities with the same expected weather and beach for less in the UK. I think you will struggle ;)
 
The lakes from this Saturday - Sunday in one of our cottages, then away with work on the way back I’m going to spend a few days as holiday in Dubai.

Hopefully off to Vegas for two weeks over summer but this needs to be sorted out with my uncle + family.

Should be off to Singapore, Milan with work at some point so will extend these trips and take a few days as holiday too.

Will be back in the lakes for a week over summer in another of our cottages then back again over Christmas and New-year.

So quite fully booked!

Isn't that a bit like saying "for a turd it doesn't smell too bad"? :p

I just couldn't stand staying at a catered resort, filled with hundreds of other lovey-dovey couples with absolutely no atmosphere or culture. You could pretty much be anywhere in the world so long as the weather was the same. I know some people enjoy that (obviously), but personally I don't see the point.

Depening on Exchange rates/weather here/ bills/cheap flight/ Thailand or N.Y.C. would love to go india see how things go in the next 6 months :cool:
 
Just come back from Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago. Planning to go on a long weekend break to Amsterdam at some point, then on another mini trip to Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia in June (if time/funds allow), then Greece for a week at the end of August.

you are allowed to leave the resort... lol.

They are perfect family destinations, kids can be palmed off to someone else, and you can relax in a place that has better weather than where you live. Best turd I've ever smelt :D

If you can afford to go to stay at those places and stay for about 2 weeks, using a week of that just inwinding and relaxing at the resort and then a week of it with day trips here and there to get out of the resort (take a scuba/fishing trip, going to visit a village nearby, do the touristy stuff). When I went with the Fam to Fiji to a resort there, Dad became good mates with a few of the locals while we were there and they invited us to a local Rugby match near by which we went to sitting in the back of a truck, and then another night we walked a mile or so along the beach with them from the resort and had a traditional Fijian meal (can't remember now what its called, but there was some dip sort of thing that had bacon and potato among other things in it, and it was ******* good!) with most of their village.

Probably one of the best trips I have ever done and that was at a resort.
/rant :p

Although as I said before, I prefer to backpack around on my own instead of staying at resorts but I can appreciate a good sit and relax every now and then :D
 
Off to Berlin for 5 days next month then 2-3 weeks doing the East Coast of the US from New York to Miami in September.

That will do for now.
 
Australia for 29 days in august well a few less and 2 days on a plane, so excited. First long haul trip and I'll be going on my own for most of it. Well I lie it's my second long haul, but first I was so young I can't remember it.

Tip:

Take a big poo before take off.
Window seat is fun if you like the views and the plus side is that you won't get disturbed if you want to go tot he loo. The aisle seat means you get to go to the loo but will get disturbed quite a few times. I prefer windows seats
Get some noise cancelling headphones, they are SOOOOOO worth it.
That little pillow they give you, its great to sit on, after about 4 hours i find the seat gets really uncomfortable on my backside.

Also ask at check-in if you can get a seat at an emergency exit, for some extra added leg room :D. You probs won't get it for the first leg but a good chance for the second leg that you will!
