Holiday in Last Semester of Uni - Dilemma

Get off the internet, tell your girlfriend you can't visit her because you'll do poorly in a degree that has taken three years of your life, and do your dissertation. You'd be an idiot to waste any more time than you already have.
 
Stop letting the little head do the thinking and use the bigger head instead.

3 years degree down the pan because you want to see your girlfriend for a couple of weeks is a REALLY bad way of throwing it away. She's not going anywhere else is she? You said you don't have much money as well, and will it make any difference if you go a month after?
 
if you are hell bent on going then you HAVE to do some thinking and research before you go. that will make it far easier to get stuck in when you get back. spend a few all nighters reading the criteria, sourcing some articles and framing your study. read on the plane. when she does things with people you don't know or like then do a bit of work. read on the plane back.

when you get back, having done some research and let the prevailing issues marinade in your head you will be in a better position than had you not.

one month is ample time really to do the dissertation.

the writing is not the problem - it is the planning and research

I think I'm going to put seeing her back until I either finish my dissertation, or at least get the bulk of it done.

I need a 2:1 and that is my priority. That doesn't mean to say that I'm not sickened by the situation.

I called the girlfriend and she understands but shes obviously dissapointed. I guess I'm just going to have to hammer it for the next month and try and get things done so I can go.
 
Dump the girlfriend, find a girl who you can actually visit for less than £500 at a time, do your disseration instead, pass degree, be happy :D

I don't think you need advice, you are just looking for support for a decision that you know is wrong. Don't go, get on with your work, get a good degree and don't waste the past 2½ years.

ps - I hope you are so hard at work that you never get to read this ;)
