Seriously though, if anyone wants to do a weekend in France or something I can get a discount on Eurostar for myself and 3 other people. Just need to book in advance.

The brother-in-law cycled around New Zealand and parts of Australia when he was single. Now he is living in NZ! (lucky git).
When I was single, I used to visit Dublin a few times to do a bit of sight-seeing and enjoy a couple of pints. Shame I didn't have a camera when I was single. :(

Also I hear Thailand is plenty warm in December in anyone fancies it. Plan on shooting some of the aboriginal tribes, doing a few landscapes, maybe swim with a few Lemon sharks, and probably avoid most of the local cuisine if I'm honest.

Be up for this as well once I've settled into the job (although that'll only take as long as booking in advance would be)

Travelling alone isn't crazy at all, in fact I'll probably do it once I have the funds/get an idea of where I want to go - always wanted to go to Tokyo and work my way around Asia from there, do NY to LA, or maybe even book a ticket on the Trans Siberian railway.

For those considering France, remember that laws concerning photography in public are very different to over here (i.e far more strict). Not major concern if you're mostly doing architecture stuff, but if you want to do more street work you have to be careful. Kinda sad when you consider that France was the home of many very famous street photographers.

Not keen on france as i been there before and much go somewhere i never been :)

i just need to decide where to go. i have the funds to do it and the gear so just need to pick a place and im good to go.

Yep would do it. When I went to Iceland I went with 2 other photographers and we were up and out at all hours for the love of it.

Had the best time of my life :)

I've seen ferry trips for like £29 per car that includes up to 9 passengers. Dunno how I feel about driving and parking in Paris though!

To be fair, I've seen people do long weekends on flights to all over Europe.

The things I listed earlier could easily be fitted into carry on. Grab all the stuff, meet up at Stansted. Get a cheap flight and a hotel somewhere in Europe (Italy, Germany, Krakow, Bruges, Amsterdam, Prague etc....)

How much to take a car, then you could drive to other countries, or I suppose you could do it by train?

Long weekends become more challenging in cars. But a five day trip wouldn't be so bad. Think mrk has done this a few times.
