Want somewhere that's going to be hot in late oct / early nov.

After a relaxing holiday, nice beach, nice restaurants with some sight seeing to do during the day!

What kind of sightseeing?

What kind of budget?

The Canaries hit everything except the sightseeing. Egypt hits everything with a bit of travelling around. Crete hits the lot, as does Mexico.

Should have included a few more details :)

Me and the girlfriend are going...

Budget, around £400 each but cheaper would be better. Looking to go for half term week. I'm going away to Malia, Crete with the boys in the Summer so somewhere different would be nice.

As for site seeing, she loved Greece.. looking at all the rurals etc. Mexico and Egypt sound interesting, will have to have a look into those. My uncle went to Egypt last Nov and it was only £250 for the week, full board. Defently worth looking into I think, was really hot out there too.

The problem you have with Egypt is that all the history is a long way from beaches. You get lovely hotels with pools inland but not beaches. When we went we did just over a week on a cruise on the Nile, 4 days in the Cairo Hilton and then a week in Luxor. Quite expensive, but it really is the holiday of a lifetime.

You can stay elsewhere in Egypt though for the beaches, you just don't get the history...

Mexico might be an option for you though. In Cancun you've got amazing hotels and you're not far from Yucatan. The history and the beaches :)

Can you go any other week than 1/2 term? Prices are ridiculous and places book up incredibly quick for all school holidays. Will point Leon in the direction of this thread when he gets home (he works for Thomson).

Personally, I'd go for somewhere like Greece because I like the people, the food and the lifestyle. However, they stop flying out at the end of October, so November isn't a possibility. We went to Rhodes in October a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. It was warm (25+ degrees), but not too hot. Rhodes Town is lovely and has an interesting history. We we there for 2 weeks and had loads to do. Planning to go back next year because our friends are getting married out there. The nightlife is alright (only a couple of nightclubs but we preferred sitting in bars watching the world go by or going to see some live music) and there are tonnes of nice restaurants to choose from at all price ranges. Rhodes beach isn't great, but we're not the sunbathing types. We hired a scooter and went about 5 miles down the coast where there was a lovely little bay which you could snorkel in. Fantastic!

I thought he was saying he didn't want Crete. But if he doesn't want Greece overall, fair enough :p

Leon said that there isn't an awful lot to do in Egypt, so I wouldn't fancy that. Mexico sounds pretty cool though, but during half term you'd be lucky to get anything under £400 really.

If you count as fending off scammers as doing something then I guess there is loads,
its an awful place.
also, when is 1/2 term week?

i went to spain the last week of september.

beatiful weather, nice hotel, within a 5 min walk to the beach and on the way to the beach there were loads of shops too.

it cost us £149 each for 1 week full board. but to be honest we always ate out so it would be cheaper to go b&b.

also down the road from the hotel was a nice irish pub/restaurant.

nice and quiet there too

this is where we stayed
