Im going on holiday soon, going on a cruise around the med

crete,turkey,Egypt Rhodes

I currently have a D60 + Tamron 17-50mm it currently has a Polariser on it (got it on holiday cheap) would it be better to use a ND Filter?

If so which make & type should i be looking at for a walk around filter for holiday.

Secondly i have a smaller shoulder lower-pro bag for my camera which is nice but after some hours digs into my shoulder a lot. (Tamron is so heavy) can anyone recommend a decent rack-sack for traveling?

I'm currently looking to upgrade my bags (both backpack and shoulder bag) to the National Geographic bags, the shoulder bags are quite big:D but I'm not sure my 1D will fit in the medium backpack :( and the large pack is massive 5kg beast :( !!!!

Take the polariser I don't think you'll need an ND. Perhaps ND grads, but most med. blue skies tend to look pretty natural without any grads, perhaps half a stop or a stop in PP but that would be it.

Personally I like to take a few ND grads if I'm planning on shooting any landscapes at all, no matter where I'm going. Bag wise, I'm not a fan of backpacks (too long to get stuff in and out) but the Kata is pretty good and the NatGeo bags are also excellent.

Keep the Polariser (assuming it's a circular one) and just stick the camera in a standard backpack, no extra cost and it won't stand out as much. You'll also be able to fit other stuff you may need in it, unlike most camera bags.

Have you got any natgeo bags? Do you know if the medium backpack could hold a 1D?

I have a friend who has the large shoulder bag and had the medium backpack, they're really nice bags certainly. I would guess it would but it'd be tight, it's tight with a D700 + grip or a D3 and I believe the 1D is a shade larger than the D3 (though I've never actually compared).

It's a trade off, I'd probably go for the larger one if it was me. The really annoying thing is I've yet to find a high street stockist I can look at one (the damn nat geo shop in London doesn't stock them!).

If you haven't already, billingham are also worth a look in the same sort of style...
