Holidays 2020

Its the trip of a lifetime for me this year, R.... oadtrip around California / Nevada for 3 and half weeks with the Mrs around September time. Cannot wait.

I've got a few coming up this year, which is nice. Iceland at the end of February. I'm very worried about how cold that'll be.

A mystery location in May with my friends, one of whom is on here so I can't yet reveal the details.

We're going to a wedding in Poland in August. Then the big one in September - Sri Lanka for a couple of weeks. Can't wait for that!

Porto in early April with few friends for a week. End of April/ beginning of May we're going for few days to Vienna and Slovakia. Then Slovakia/ Austria/ Czech again in mid August for 10 days. Might try to squeeze in a trip to US as well at some point or at least a beach holiday in early September.

I had a great time there with my friends. Lots to drink, lots of nice women to look at.

Blimey there are some organised people here. The girlfriend and I thought we were doing well because we've *spoken about* what weeks we might want to book off this year :p

I fancy going to LA....and I have absolutely no idea why

isn't it meant to be a dump?
As someone who goes every year for work, honestly it's losing it's shine after 5 trips.

But, for 2 or 3 days there's enough to see and do that'll be fine. Venice Beach, Santa Monica, the Griffith Observatory, the Getty Centre, the theme parks.. But when people talk about LA they only imagine Hollywood... but central Hollywood itself is grim, don't plan on wanting to spend more than 20mins looking at some stars on the floor and then get the heck out. I thoroughly enjoy cycling along the beach path between Venice and Santa Monica or the other way out to Redondo or Manhattan Beach.

I'd only do LA as part of a bigger trip to see other parts of CA, personally. If you imagine going to a big city that doesn't have any history ( :p) then that's what LA is like. So you can enjoy the culture, the restaurants, the bars, the sights it has to offer, the beaches etc. but beyond that there's not much to actually do.

Menorca in June for a week, friend is getting married there.

Otherwise no other plans, although there's talk of going back to South Africa for Christmas and New Year...

Nothing planned yet, thinking about options between cheap places to visit in either Spain or Italy for a week nearer to September.
Think I'll probably just do the one small cheap holiday this year and save for a massive trip next year.

Nothing planned also but to me. Cornwall is a. Permanent holiday, didn't plan last year but did the camino walk across pyranees and Spain and (6 weeks as stayed on in santander cost about 1k including trave and accommodation lcheaper than staying at homer) wouldn't mind doing the Portugal coastal route this time

Possibly looking into a city break in Milan for later on in the year. Maybe get a couple of days away elsewhere in Scotland as well. Nothing finalised yet though.

Things appear to be moving on the Milan front. Looking to take in a 3 day break at the end of April which includes getting tickets for an AC Milan home game that weekend as well. Just going to see what else there is to see and do on the days I've got spare now.

1 week in Scotland (just finished)
10 nights in Tanzania in Feb (climbing Kilimanjaro)
4 nights in Amsterdam in June (Euro 2020 game)
2 weeks somewhere in October (destination to be decided)

Great deals to Tel Aviv on VA or BA. Tempted but not sure I could persuade the other half what with the Iran situation. Then again, there's always something going on in that part of the world :(

I'd agree with this. No one goes downtown anyway, so it's all west hollywood and west towards the beach. Some lovely places, very fake, but you know. Not a bad place to chill out. I still like it but only tag on a few days at the end in LA normally like I did last year.

I love Bali! You're right there's so much to do. Where abouts are you staying?
No idea yet. We're still deciding how we want to split it up. Roughly 3 days in Ubud, maybe Amed or Sanur for a few days and either Gillis or Nusa islands. Can't decide lol
We want to do a bit of exploring but also want to chill and unwind too

I'd love to go to Bali but at the rate I see pics etc. appearing online it seems every Instagrammer and travel blogger is there! How are you guys flying there, isn't it a bit complicated?

I've seen that but I think that's SE Asia in general these days. Flying from Manchester with Qatar airways. 2 hr stop at Doha and then into bali. Total journey is 18hr.

That's a good route. I stopped at Doha on the way to Thailand last year which was far better than the 14h straight flight to Jakarta the year before then a hop to Bali  Plus Doha Airport is pretty impressive

Bali is excellent. I wasn't there for long enough but packed in loads and had one of the best weeks of my life just flitting place to place. Probably going back next year to do a bit more of Bali and then some other areas too

Skiing in Andorra next week and MTB in Morzine in July booked so far for me
