Holloway Walks Away, thread now includes possible new manager discussions

Poor bloke, never going to be a permanent premier league manager.

No club thinks they should ever not be good enough for relegation, some one has to go down.. what do Crystal Palace expect.

And they think that installing a new manager in the position the club is in will help?

The "Di Canio" factor that helped Sunderland stay up is a rarity! Feel for the bloke, going to miss his sense of humour and the way he handles the press!

Maybe a manager shouldn't buy 14 players going into a new season, not find a team quick enough and buy poorly?

Other teams bought top notch players for low prices, other teams made far FAR fewer changes from a championship side and are currently doing better in the league, Hull and Cardiff to name but two and other teams who have come up in recent years who still use significant portions of their championship teams.

He's done poorly by any measure, 5mil for a striker who managed 13 goals for Peterborough...... as your "big" signing, to be a striker in the premier league... 1 win and 7 losses is poor, very poor, no part of the team is playing well, no tactical strategy appears to be in use. That they might get relegated isn't a reason to fire him, that they've been this bad, that he spent so poorly and that he bet on a almost 5mil striker with no credible history of being good as his one chance to stay in the league are all great reasons to fire him.

Moronic.

But sadly stereotypical of the EPL they would be better off hanging onto a manager who can consistently get them up than go down this retarded route.

Hopefully they'll do a Wolves, a fate which would never have happened to Wolves if they had kept McCarthy, suffer well Palace you've lost all respect and sympathy you may have had this season.

Saw Palace in the playoffs as I wanted to see what Zaha was like over a few games and bar him, they were pretty awful. No surprises they are not doing well.

Not surprised to be honest, only a matter of time.

Yep. It was always just a matter of time. Palace got promoted despite ian Holloway last year, not because of him. They were going great when he took over, and he did his best to mess it up for them. It was the quality of the squad that saw them through.... Take a look at palace's run from about March onwards, they were awful!

I guess people commented before seeing his interview? The one where he wasn't sacked, but he walked away because he knew he wasn't doing good enough? I wasn't a big fan of him before, but after standing up and admitting fault, he certainly has my respect.

Never really had much time for him, he's usually far to full of himself and the press conferences that most seem to find entertaining I find incredibly tedious and dull. Brave man to fall on his sword so publicly I suspect he has just put himself out of football management for a long long time, who is going to employ him following that confession?

Sadly means king of the long ball bully boys Pulis will likely be back in the Premier League at least Holloway's team always try to play attractive footy.

If I were the Premier League, I'd put a ban on anyone trying to appoint Pulis. He tars the standard of football, to the extent where no one would want to watch his side vs anyone in the PL on Sky.

They would have to get Sam 'Whats a midfield for?' Allardyce on that list too!

Holloway has been garbage this season and most of his post conferences toe curling.

I don't think Palace can be saved and therefore Pulis wont want to risk his record but if they want the best possible chance then he is the man to go for.

He won't have any trouble finding a Championship club that's for sure, not many managers can say that they've achieved two promotions to the Premier League.

It's a shame he won't be in the Premier League though, I always enjoy listening to him in interviews.

I don't think Crystal Palace will stay up though so losing him might backfire come next season, you only have to look at Wolves I doubt they'd be in League One now if they had stuck with Mick McCarthy when things were going wrong in the Premiership.

Sunderland, Palace and Cardiff to go down. Wonder what odds you can get for that, seems like easy money at the moment.

Be surprised if Pulis wants the job tbh, like his brand of football or not I'd say he's a bit above taking this fairly hopeless looking task on.

5 seasons of comfortably establishing Stoke as a premiership side, wasn't like he left them when they were doing bad either just their progress had stalled and the fans had got fed up of his tactics!

He'd be better off taking Cardiff on when Mackay gets the boot, they've got the potential to stay up with a bit of luck. Problem for him is the stigma of his tactics will send any clubs fans mental if he gets the job so maybe he can't be fussy!
