I wish ask jeeves never went bust, "Jeeves" home automation would have been awesome as you just "ask" it to do things for you...

"Jeeves, what's the weather"
*in posh English butler voice* "Bloody cold sir!"
etc....

Someone needs to call this in.

Well we have Cortana and Siri now. I don't use them but for lazy people who fear the google fu I guess they are useful. Personally I take pride in employing my google fu.

I'm annoyed that we can't make custom call signs - Cortana is a crap name to be shouting in the house. I am not Captain Keyes.

And "ok/hey/hello/good morning google" isn't much better, why try to pretend I'm talking to a machine? At least with Jeeves it sounds appropriate....

but it's better than..... Cantona

Considering they learn to recognise your voice it is odd you can't set a custom name yet.

I find that these forums are better sometimes than a search engine. You can come on here, ask a question, wade through the sarcastic responses

and then find your answer. It often takes minutes, and it's good because you get a human answer where as with google you are relying on an algorithm, which works but with some obscure questions you can't beat an internet forum.

That's awesome news. I hated Ask with a passion. They bundled there rubbish toolbar all over the place and tried to trick you into installing it. Worst thing was it also came with the Ask Updater which silently installed itself without your permission, next thing you know is your CPU's at 100% and the fan's going mental with the temp maxed out.

Horrible company, horrible software. Good riddance.

well, it's a shame they took that route. Desperate people indeed.

But if they were still around, I bet they'd be up for it (if they had a more forward thinking team

I would like to see something developed that you can call it what ever you want, like first thing in a morning, feeling rough and looking rough, call it a **** but it still responds, and then tries to make you feel better genuinely, but yet you still call it a ****.

Not sure what I'd call my Echo if I could change it but Zen or Orac spring to mind but that'd be weird with the female voice.

Isn't Jeeves basically Jarvis from Iron Man, or at least the embodiment of it.

Maybe someone should pick up the voice artist for that and use him.
