Howdy all!

Right, had an on location shoot this morning which you'll see pics of later!

Anyway, thought you guys might like this...I knew it was going to be either raining or snowing, so I decided to do some home brew weather proofing...

The result!

Tell you what, it blooming working though! :D - Rushed home after the shoot and dried the not so weather proof bits and everythings still fine. one nice and dry 40D :)

Hehe, if and when I go to Donna Nook I'll be doing this...hopefully something more sophisticated so its not such a pain to use and work but I'll come up with something :D

Very cool, I wish I done this as I've just got back from Dartmoor and my D300 got soaked. Plus I was a little worried when I had to carry it across a river and the rocks were very slippery.

the 40D and d300 are both weather sealed boys :p the d300 more so, the 40D is fine in rain but perhaps not torrents, and if you were using your 17-40 it completes the seal

What I don't like though is the lack of sealing around the lens mount. Ive got a 70-200mm and was half expecting some sort of O-ring seal around the mount. Why don't lenses (or even the bodies) include something like a neoprene or rubber gasket around the lens mount to make it totally watertight? Im tempted to make one myself.

you one of these these

Got one in Camo, designed for my 300mm f2.8 :)

A login screen? :p

You not a member of TP? Noob! :p

Well by the end of it it was pretty much chucking it down - and yeah I was using the 17-40....ah well. Better safe than sorry! :p

I'm toying with the idea of getting a sportshield, although my friend made me a waterproof cover that goes over the 600 with a 1.4x attached + the body. It has a velcro strap at the front so you can seal it tight to the front of the lens hood. There are no arm holes though, the back is open (although has a draw string to close it up) but there is a bit of excess material still so it's long enough that you can use the controls without the camera getting soaked. Worked wonders at Donna Nook!

You should make a tut and post it for all.

After being out on Sunday morning, it most of the day to dry my camera out. I didn't dare turn it back on till late in the day, just in case.... :)
