would it just be worth connecting the 5 satelite speakers and forgetting about the sub, i have spotted a cheapo sony av amp on the members market which im thinking of buying this would power just the satelite speakers, are there controls on most av amps to turn up the base so it would sound resonable through the satelites if you know what i mean

You'll need an amplifer.

Personally I would just junk the whole lot and start fresh. A grand will get you a reasonbly good budget 5.1 system and av amplifier

yeah i bet it will but i dont just have a grand lying aroung im only 16

thanks for the advive james but ive spotted up a nice creative kit which i like the look of and i know with the creative all in one kits power isnt everything as i have a crappy 2.1 system that 2-3 years old fair enough the satelite are only 6w but they are nice and loud via an optical cable

basicly my dad bought a new htk kit from a well known high street electronics store as his DVD/amp had blown up and wanted a new one but didnt seek advice first so we just connected up the new amp/dvd player with the old speakers so i have the new speakers free of charge and was just wondering how easy it would be to get them working with an AV amp

if he had consalted me first i would have got him a cheap av amp but hey i get free speakers so im not worried

well got the speakers home and out of the box and i honestly dont want to get rid of them as they look so good,and are pretty powerfull

this is the back of the sub, this is what i badly tried to explain

this is the back of the av amp i am thing of buying

i was thinking of just buying this amp then running the 5 satelites off it then maybee run the sub off the center speaker chanel or buying a another av amp later

yeah came up with a new idea a 1 phono to 2 phone leed i could plug the singal phono in the subwoofer port and cut the end offthe 2xphono end and plug it into the woofer which would shorly work

yeah but what you guys are saying is that i should buy a stereo amp but its going to sound the same as if i run it off the av reaciver on pne of those speaker chanels as i will have to run the sub off either left or right on either amp
