I am looking at building my first PC. It will be primarily used as our home PC for the kids to do home work etc. I would like to put enough money and components in from the start which will allow me to switch it into a gaming PC when the kids are not on it :)

I am new to it all if im honest. I would appreciate your ideas and i will do some research from there. If possible can you include a monitor if it goes nearer the £2000 mark.

Thank you.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,775.74 (includes delivery: £15.99)

Monitor is a placeholder, it looks decent but there might be better for similar or less money.

Very capable gaming build and obviously it'll be spot on for homework/office type tasks.

M-ATX as that's my personal preference, I like a smaller form factor, but you could go for a larger midi-tower if preferred for more or less the same money.

What's your thoughts on swapping out the 9800X3D and MSI B850M for the OCUK Z87 bundle with the intel 7 265K and MSI Z890. ??

Core Ultra Intel CPU's can be good for productivity tasks like video editing, but are extremely underwhelming for gaming compared to AMD's X3D lineup, for your use case I'd consider it a bad purchase decision.
