You know those units that control things like light switches, the alarm, cooker, fridge, freezer and even things like the blinds (opening/closing them electronically). Anyone know of a product that does these? I'm looking for a fairly advanced model, that possibly uses touch-screen...

And this isn't for me to waste my money on cause I'm lazy. It's purely for background research of that type of product :)

I used to work with a system called EIB, it's very flexible although can get pricey. You can program it up yourself to do anything you want. We used to get some of the richer people wanting all sorts of things automated, even their bath level!

It's good stuff but generally only used in commercial applications, X-10 is the big one in America and is more of a "plug and play" system. This is from info that's about 8 years old as I haven't been in it for a good while... :)

For EIB, Siemens is the main supplier and generally had the most kit.

EDIT: Just read up about EIB, apparently it's now called KNX.
