Home Delivery Network - Awful delivery.

When I worked for ASOS last year, we had the most complaints regarding HDN and their awful delivery service. We could view more detailed tracking information and some of the parcel locations were very entertaining, a lot of them being put in bins with no note to the recipient!

Its funny I'd never heard of HDN until earlier today. I hadnt heard anything from the company Id ordered from despite the parcel supposed to be delivered today.

I emailed them and they replied with screen shots of the website traking page and the parcel had been delivered. Not only that someone had signed for it, there was also an image of the signature. Someone had just written my surname in a squiggly manner! Cant work out if my neighbours were trying to be helpful or the driver just wanted to pretend he'd delivered it.

Will be interesting when I get home!

Found out that DHL don't use satnav in their vans, something about it might get stolen or something.

I was amazed to find they don't use it.

Very few couriers use Satnav unless they are totally unfamiliar with the area.

And when it comes to leaving parcels for people, drivers are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If the driver makes an executive decision and opts to leave a parcel in a safe place (back porch, wheelie bin, greenhouse etc) you can guarantee the receiver or sender will be furious that their priceless item has been left with no authority.

If the decides to card it and return it to the depot the customer will complain that they live in a quiet safe are and why on earth did the driver not just leave it somewhere safe, after all it was only worth £3. Now we have to go ALL the way to the depot to fetch it etc etc etc

They can't win.

I've posted this before, but DPD managed to deliver a parcel addressed to me c/o Tesco three doors up
Not even a little shop that you can get confused with someone else...................

With all courier services it's luck of the draw. My last 5 consignments via DPD have all been returned to the depot flagged as "no access". I happen to live in a Tower block which involves the driver exiting his vehicle and walking 100 yards and getting in a lift to the 9th floor. Poor things it must be all a little overwhelming for them so they just take it back to the depot for the next mug to take out.

My advice is If your lucky enough to get the same driver every time, treat him like your long lost brother. Unfortunately I seem to get a different driver on each delivery, and I know that my local depot are up to all kind of shenanigans. I've now stopped complaining and resigned myself to the fact that next day delivery will actually take a couple of days to arrive after half a dozen phone calls to DPD customer services.

Today was typical 8AM DPD tracker shows out for delivery, by 12 noon it shows at the depot, 4 phone calls later and DPD have had to arrange a special courier pickup from there own depot, how ironic is that!
