I'm getting BT's Infinity fibre service installed today, complete with the new HomeHub 3. I'm assuming that, despite improvements, it's still going to be somewhat sucky as a router.
I've been with BT for ~10 years and I've never had a Home Hub - I had one of the original godawful manta ray USB modems which I swiftly replaced with a Netgear. Since then, I've regularly upgraded my Netgears and I'm dreading the BT kit.
Am I right in thinking that Infinity uses a separate modem that feeds the Home Hub? Their info is pretty sketchy, but the Home Hub certainly seems to be a pure router - http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/wireless-routers/1283386/bt-home-hub-3
If that is the case, would it be worth my while buying another Netgear to replace it with - and does one even exist that will take whatever it is that's going to be pumped down the funky red cable?
Heh, you can tell I'm no network expert![Big Grin :D :D](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/biggrin.gif)
