Home Hub 5 to Ubiquiti AP Setup

Your problem really stems from not having Ethernet cabling routed around the property. The idea of the WAP's is to separate that function out from the wireless router. Therefore placing the WAP(s) to best cover the area and negating the need for wireless on the router. Doing it that way means you could just disable wireless on the router and leave it in its less than ideal position or replace it with an 'Edge Router Lite', if you want to keep all the kit consistent.

It's not really though.

I want to consolidate the modem and router into one anyway so will most likely purchase the VR900 to achieve this. If the wifi from that doesnt give me better coverage outside i'll buy one of the Ubiquiti AP's and place it in a suitable location and disable wireless on the VR900.
