got no room for it in my enclose tbh, yeah thats what i was thinking. One of my drives that i am putting in the server is currently being used as external storage, i think it is formatted to FAT32. Will i need to back the data up and re format through unraid or will i be able to just literally plug it in and it will work (not expecting it to be that easy)

You’ll need to back the data up. All drives added to an unRAID array will be reformatted to the XFS file system and wiped in the process.

If you just want the data from it to copy to the array, Unassigned Devices will mount drives dependant on formatting and it's easy enough to then move data from them locally to the array rather than be crippled via gigabit

Does anyone know if there is a way to save some energy using unraid and a microserver ? My energy used to be around £1 a day, since i have got my server up and running it is now £2.50 per day..?
