Home nations fans 'back England'

If England weren't in the competition I wouldn't care who won & wouldn't really cheer anyone on. But if you asked me who I'd prefer to win out the home nations or Germany & Argentina for instance I'd take the home nations every time, unless it was Scotland

I find that very, very hard to believe and I'd be surprised if I could find anyone outside of England who wants us to do well in the World Cup.

Me lives in Scotland and I would love to see England win the WC. Sure, I enjoy home countries banter but I have lived in England and have tons of English mates, both my wives were English and yer not a bad lot really!

my family as not originally from England but i was born and raised here and I've never understood why the english, welsh and Scots hate each other so much
to me your all the same except for your accents
after all you are all from the same island

i understand that there was war and other stuff hundreds of years ago but time to let it go tbh

I think on football focus a while back, when Berti Vogts was manager, they did an item on the state of Scottish national football. They asked a lot of Scottish kids who they supported at national level and they said England. When they were asked why they didn't support Scotland they said they were rubbish.

I don't remember it that well, but I'm pretty sure that was the case. I was surprised at that and I'm surprised that 67% of polled Scots would back England. Hard to believe really.

You're being pretty vague there, you think you saw something but you don't remember that well? Sounds like rubbish to me.

Anyway, kids are idiots and they haven't developed a sense of national identity. They get the Premiership rammed down their throats with aggressive marketing and therefore think that Gerrard and Lampard are the best thing ever.

Congratulations on alienating the citizens from your adopted country. You need to understand the difference between a rivalry and hatred. The rivalry is part of our heritage and it's not something you just let go. If you don't understand it you'd do well by not passing comment.

I am Welsh and I will support England!!

Despite some of you making very childish comments about Taffs, Paddys and Scots - I don't support you but I support the England Team because I am British!
It's sad to hear some of you say you wouldn't support Wales if they were there and you weren't but its what I come to expect from you, come to think of it, English people - Q.Who exactly do you like other than your own kind?
Or unless it's a foreign player assisting your team to do well?

You should edit that to there won't be many players more deserving than Giggs on show at the world cup. Like George best before him, it's a crying shame that we'll never see him play on the biggest stage of all. I almost feel sorry for him being born here. Imagine what England could have achieved had he played for them. They've been crying out for a left winger as long as I can remember and we had the best in the world all along. (Shame about the rest of our team)

That's fair enough. It was something I saw on TV over a year ago that lasted for 10 minutes, so it's hardly going to have a lasting impression on me. I just didn't want to represent something as fact if it might not be.

He did, but any child who goes to school in England is eligible for the England Schoolboys team.

Born in Wales, Welsh parents and Grandparents. So no choice actually. Mind you, I don't think he'll complain when he looks back at his career.

Also with the rules the way they are, i think from memory, you have to play for the schoolboys of the country you are going to school in. Hence giggs playing for the England schoolboys and not the Welsh ones.

Personally i think this along with a lot of other statistics are made up. None of my scottish mates are backing england and one of the main reasons is if england win anything we get it rammed onto every bbc broadcast, didn't hear all that much when wales won the 6nations last year did you? I do feel the english preimer is far better than the spl, but with so much talk about england's football team and how they are going to win on scottish telly doesn't help them one bit.
