hi guys i am looking for a new wireless router for my home network. I have 3 desktop machines and 1 laptop.

Firstly I need someone to recommend me a good wireless router.

Secondly I need a switch as two of my pcs are upstairs. The setup will be as follows.

Wireless router downstairs beside 1 desktop pc. One cable will be ran upstairs into a switch. What cable should be used here? Crossover?

From the switch I will have 2 patch cables to each of the other desktop pcs.

So overall I need new wireless router and a switch to share the broadband upstairs.

Would appreciate any help on this.

Regards
Jonny

Motorola are, IMO, the best routers around. Got mine off of the bay for £30, RRP £90, and it hasn't crashed once.
As for switches, i just got a cheap and cheerful hub from my old school :D

Stay away from Linksys and Belkin, they are the dark side of routers and crash if you use them a lot.

Matt :)

cheers for info. i should have said that i was thinking of the faster breed of routers such as the draft n compliant ones. And also a gigabit switch.

thanx for info tho

i dont believe so

it stands for multiple input, multiple output, and its basically a way of combining multiple "channels" to increase bandwith

as opposed to draft N which attemps to increase the bandwith of a singular channel.
