If they're not, could add usb powered fans (hacked together) to the Synology systems

Have you any more details on this at all Bledd, I have all the items in the garage whic is quiet cold as it is.. but it cant hurt to get some more cooling in the box.

Get a normal usb cable,chop the end off and solder the black&red cables onto the black and red wires from a cheap fan.

This will run at 5v (not the normal 12v)
