Right I have the following setup

ADSL <-> Netgear DG834 <-> Ethernet <-> Switch <-> Xbox360+Laptop+Desktop

I want to add another wireless device between the wired lan and the 834.

I have a 20m cable that runs from the ADSL router to the switch.

So whats the best/easiest/cheapest way of adding a wifi client to the switch so that I can remove the 20m ethernet cable?

I did a quick google and a Netgear 602 seems to fit the bill, is this correct?

Two wireless access points, one connected to the switch (as a client), the other connected to the DG834?
WG602's an access point - whether it'll let you set it up as a client I have no idea.

Why do I need 2 access points?

The DG834 is a netgear wireless router, so presumably I just need another access point to act as a bridge point to the dg834?

The DG834G is the wireless model, the DG834 is not.
If you've got the DG834G, then yes, you'd only need the one AP to act as client to the DG834G's wireless.

"Gaming adaptor" = wireless bridge.
WDS is a slightly different arrangement (distributed series of devices).

For what (little) it's worth, I know for a fact the WRT54GS running Sveasoft Talisman will do it. Since mine does it (and IIRC Berserker has a device doing something similar too) :p

Well it's sat on my desk here, but I'm a little confused........

Shows the layout as I want it, so all looks good...
Click me for more information on the Netgear setup That link actually explains it as I see it...

but.......

I've done a few searches on the web, and it appears that I connect it as I want to...

Xbox360 | Laptop | Airport Express | Xbox

The WGE111 will take the first mac address from the device turned on first, and then block/not accept the rest. Whether this is by design or fault, I cannot fathom.

Can anyone shed any light?
