Hi,

Just taken the jump and installed win home server 2011 and created a little server.
My question is whether it is possible to download using something like bitcomet from the server? How do you do this? If you then add a task/download do you always have to go via remote connection?

| bit new to this and i cant see any decent guides using my friend mr.G:rolleyes:

Any help appreciated..

if you use utorrent instead of bitcomet, then you can setup a web access which means you can just open up a web browser on any pc on your network and type in the address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) and you can manage all of them from there :)

Also just a quick que about your homeserver, have you found that there are parts of it that just don't work? my media streaming doesn't work :(

No all seems to work so far although it is way over my head and im normally quite competant around IT.

Have you turned it on? Is it in the correct folder i.e not somewhere obscure? Is your NIC configured to connect and wake etc? Sorry if that is all obvious....

One thing i have found strange is that the power options are quite basic? I thought there would be loads of tweaks - perhaps i havnt seen thm yet.
I got the system sitting at 31watts at idle and am looking to reduce, i need to upgrade HDD i think as the system is installed on a standard 500gig drive...

yes but i was rambling lol.

i was trying to answer hellardas question about not streaming media...

Ive had a look for utorrent on whs2011 and it seems a bit of an afterthought. I thought most NAS boxes have a torrent client built in and yet windows home server has nothing to offer? Very odd.
All i want is to leave the server on and let it carryon downloading rather than haveing to but the noisy desktop on........

What are you trying to achieve?

uTorrent can monitor a folder... on your normal PC create a network share to this folder, when you find a torrent you want place it in this shared folder. Your server will then pick up this torrent and download it.. you can also tell utorrent to put completed downloads in a specific folder... you can share this folder too

I actually go a step further than this, I use dropbox as a location for utorrent to monitor.. I can then put torrent files into my dropbox from any computer connected to the internet and also my iphone, ipad etc
