Drive the roads looking for bandits and trying to piece your humanity back together after having lost your wife and child.

Then take on Gastown.
 
A few ideas

Maybe look for a room to rent with someone that does not ask those things although may be hard to find but i would not think impossible.
Obviously easier if you know people who can point you in the right direction and know someone who could rent you a room.
Maybe some local ads for rooms to rent you might find someone who does not care as long as they have some cash in hand :).

Another option i thought maybe get a motorhome and live in that if you just want to do your own thing, then you can largely live as you please and there are many campsites which wont really care as long as you have cash.

I also feel maybe it could help to see a therapist to help with you feeling directionless in life, i know for myself it has helped when earlier in the year my whole life kinda got turned on its head and left me feeling the same, now after a couple of months i feel like things make more sense and i have a better direction even if my life kinda sucks at the moment.

Maybe also look at getting some more work in your field if thats possible might help to have something to focus on.

I suggest calculating how many tin foil hats your £24k will buy you.
 
Time to start owning your **** and not expecting others to sort you out, you clearly have problems socialising well with people too, so I'd start by working on that.
 
You can stay in my house for free, but im not prepared to tell you the address or my name, but those are minor details I dont think anyone needs to know. :)

Another thing I've noticed is that the gender of those in house shares is 99% male. Why is there a disproportionate number of males renting alone to females? Not really sure what to do now. I've just turned 31, no family, no friends or ties of any kind, I am a civil engineer by education and trade - out of contract currently so, 'unemployed'. To my name I have a £1500 car, a car full of belongings and about £24000 in the bank.

Can anyone offer some pointers, words of wisdom or general noise to give me advice or inspiration? I am very much directionless at this point.

Ignoring some of your other comments / threads / stuff that doesn't make sense, here's a couple of actual suggestions...

Go travelling.

You could be out there for a few years on that cash and you could do it fairly anonymously if you want, i.e. use a different name at the places you stay etc. although I guess you don't want to show your passport at border crossings :rolleyes:.

Or, go find somewhere you can live 'in the wild'. Learn how to be self sufficient, be a nomad. Sounds like that's something you might enjoy? Being a nomad is probably a bit difficult in this country though. See how long you can do it for.

How did you get a bank account without telling them your name and NI number to start with!

Surprising you agreed to tell them that - stash it all in a mattress before your bank manager runs away with your savings ...

Grow up and sort out your problem with socialising then get on with life!
