Homepage new tab Chrome???

I'm using Chrome V34. Everytime I open a new tab, I'm presented with the new tab page. How can I get it open my homepage instead?

I've done a lot of Googling, it seems I will need to add an extension to Chrome. Is this correct? Can these extensions be trusted? Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks, I couldn't get that one to work though.

I downloaded one called 'New Tab Redirect Plus!', seems to work perfectly!
