Homeplug return query

Wasn't sure where to put this as its a general query. Do returns departments check for flashed firmware when you send it back under dsr? I've flashed it to see if it'd improve performance but it didn't and want to send it back,

They're Devolo homeplugs and not sure I can flash them back to the original firmware.

Any ideas?

I would imagine not for such a small product but couldnt be certain. It may be that they class it as modification which would render it unreturnable but that would be petty :/

If it's their own firmware, it shouldn't matter. If it's some third party there may be an issue.

Yeh it's their own official firmware.

It would be an issue if say you bought a router and flashed it with third party DD-WRT or Tomato. But their own firmware, nope.

I did this with a Phillips Set top box from currys about 18 months ago. Out of the box the thing was usless and after researching on the internet I did find an update to the fireware and so applied the update. I then took the box back to currys and quietly explained my issue with the box and that it clearly wasnt doing what I had purchsed it for and even with a fireware update it still didnt work. I got a refund in the end but that was in a shop so might be different under DSR.
