Just wondering if anyone else likes this game as much as me, for me personally I love this game, and i think it is one of best looking RTS's from its time (2002?) + its stupidly hard even on easy. Its just a shame i cant get it to work on my w7 with a 470gtx it seems to think my graphics card is agp and is plugged into a pci slot??????????? lol

Is it really choppy when you try to play it? if so

go to the nvidia control panel > Manage 3d settings > Program Settings > Homeworld 2

and set homeworld 2 so that multidisplay / mixed gpu acceleration is set to single display performance mode, that should fix it.

One of my favourite rts's ive ever played currently using complex mod with it and its amazing!

Loved them all, but HW2 was awesome.

Ended on a cliff-hanger as well.

I so wish someone would make HW3 :(

yes it is really choppy, cheers i will give that a go :)

HW2 was decent as was Cata but nothing could or has compared to original Homeworld multiplayer. So many hours spent on WON kicking ass and taking names. Best online community i've ever been involved with.

Yep loved the game, i was in the psa clan if anyone remembers.

Also the mods, the st vs sw, st mods were great, the b5 ones were also canny.

Shame that the multiplayer in nexus jupiter incident never took off.

Would have been nice if it carried on its legacy, homeworld 2 looks naff nowadays

Great game going to have to dig it out now and replay....

Never understand why people say its hard, i think its to easy on the hardest settings.

some tips

1, Remember your mothership can move so move it up as close as possible to the enemies strong holds it makes reinforcements quicker.
2, Capture those capitols, nothing like having frigates, destroyers or battleships several levels before you can build them.
3, Take out the enemy's production capabilities as quickly as possible. if they cant build they cant attack.
4, Keep a fleet of bombers in reserve, never know when you need to take out something big quickly. They are also useful as hit and run on capitals, a full fleet can take out the main guns on a battleship in one pass.
5, Set repair corvettes and any thing else that can repair your ships to guard your capitols (might be repair cant remember) they will auto repair any ships that get damaged in combat. This will double or even tripple the damage a ship takes before its destroyed.
6, If things arnt going well retreat and regroup.

I can't get it to work under WIndows 7 otherwise I'd be playing again :(

Need another hard drive for this so I can run it in XP.

I've been trying to play this for YEARS - ever since I upgraded to a nvidia 6800GTX. The result has been the same - choppy gameplay, getting progressively worse with improving hardware (well under 1fps on my last card).

I'll give this a go when I get home (not holding my breath though), since I've been looking to pay this game again for years :)

yup doing that will fix it thats the issue i had exactly :D

Really loved the single player levels of the whole series. With the story progression cut scenes and being able to carry across units and resources to the next mission. Also the presentation was top marks through out.

Never really tried multiplayer, but I just know I'd get annihilated. As I prefered max capitol ship fleets instead of going in with good mix of units.

I was going to get Flotilla as it seemed a direct copy of the first games combat.

From what I remember reading, Relic or 2K now hold the rights to Homeworld. So always chance of a sequel.
