February seems unlikely, given that we've not really seen what the game will look like or had any further information aside from that rather expensive statue thing they made.

Looks like they've worked hard to bring the original up-to-date rather than trying to re-imagine it and make potentially unwanted changes or 'improvements' in the process.

It really isn't. These are games that were already made, really old games. £22 is what I expect to pay for a brand new game that I don't already own, on release.

I would love to see Homeworld 3 and I hope the sales help towards that, but I am not paying £22 for this.

It's £11 per game (and you get the originals too), that's quite fair really. Clearly a lot of work has gone into these remasters so it's not just a simple case of writing them off as "really old games".

It is a shame there isn't a discount for owners of the originals to be honest.

How are they supposed to do that? The originals have never appeared on Steam etc.

HW3? Very dependant on sales of the Collection, and also likely to be quite different to the first two.

Was going to ask what that meant for Shipbreakers but I see your second link has a piece about that. :)

Would be great to see a Cataclysm remaster but I too don't think it's likely. Even if they're able to scrounge together some of the source code and assets they're likely to struggle to get it all together and even then, would it sell enough on its own at a later point to warrant the effort?

Shame, but I think we're super lucky to be getting these two as it is so it's hard to be disappointed!

My biggest issue with things like fuel, and the other changes that appear to be known is not so much the negative effect they'll have on the game...

The fuel will certainly make a difference to how the game is played, but maybe it'll be a good thing??
However, it's a change to the game full stop, and I think we were all hoping to have as pure and unchanged version as possible.
Who knows what other changes there might be :/

They could potentially patch these things back in as options later if the community shows demand for it. Plus the original game will still be the same as it always was.

I thought that perhaps you were all exaggerating a bit about the trailer, but having watched half of it for myself I can't quite understand what they were trying to achieve with it. Pure crap.

As someone who has never played the series before, and is eagerly awaiting the release of this remastered bundle, whats the general consensus on the sequel? Is it leaps and bound better than 1 and the one I should jump straight into first, or it it worth playing through the original first?

They've implemented some of the features of Homeworld 2 (such as the improved UI) into Homeworld Remastered so it shouldn't play that differently.
