Hi all,

Me and my fiancee are getting married in August next year and are looking for a place to go on honeymoon.

So far we have a few places in mind and all have pro's and con's;

Maldives - Awesome scenery, all inclusive but not a lot to do for 2 weeks
Florida - Loads to do but will be busy in August and not all inclusive
Hawaii - Bit more to do than Maldives, great scenery, all inclusive but not as much to do as Florida

What suggestions / recommendations have you got? We have also considered a cruise but I will be 23 and my fiancé will be 24 its seems a bit "old fashioned" but we are not sure.

Thanks for your help

:)

What's your budget? I've just come back from Honeymoon in Cuba and had an amazing time.

We have budgeted £5000

What do you want from the honeymoon?

This is the thing.... we are not 100% sure. We want "something to do" which is why we considered Florida but then we want to relax and do nothing at some point with some really nice scenery. All inclusive would be a massive advantage.

I was going to suggest Thailand. It's hot, cheap and a lot of fun, apparently, but I suppose it depends what you and your soon-to-be-missus like.

£5000, you can do something amazing. I second the Thailand suggestion. Or a two centre holiday. California and Hawaii?

We had grand plans of exploring Cuba, but by the time we got on Honeymoon we just wanted to relax and do nothing for the first week. We had been so busy in the months leading up to the wedding with every weekend taken up with something or the other that it was nice to lay around the pool/room, relax and spend time together.

The second week we done more exploring, but still relaxed.

Don't do Florida in August, it will be full of kids and over priced as you at peak season. Dont get me wrong Floridas a great laugh but if i had £5k id go somewhere else.

Im off to Indonesia at the end of the month and ill give you my report when i get back to the UK, but id suggest somewhere in asia for £5k total you could have a great time sat in a island in a beach hut if thats your thing.

What sort of things do you and your better half like? are you after a beach holiday? clubbing? treking through a jungle/up a mountain? Diving or water sports?

agreed with florida. Plane there and back will just be packed with screaming kids. Likewise the airport and hotels.

Every man and his dog goes to Florida in August because the weathers so nice.

We went to Vegas for ours, and loved it. Didnt love the heat though, 42 in the shade !

I went on a tour of sri lanka and then next week in the maldives. Was great considering I dont like laying on the beach doing nothing in spain for weeks I could easily have stayed doing not a lot in the maldives. Cost me about 4. I went back and forth between travel agents

How about Cancun, Mexico? I was out there for my honeymoon during July/August and both my wife and I couldn't have asked for more. It's perfect for lazing around, yet equally good for exploring and day trips.

I'm sitting on the balcony of a Waikiki condo at the moment and so far Hawaii is very impressive ! 29 degrees every day, cheap shopping and not too crowded. And as an added bonus the Dead Kennedy's are playing here on Saturday night which should be fun (even without Jello Biafra).

Hawaii is a big thumbs up from me :D

I'd mix it up a little don't go for two weeks in the one place split the time bettween exploring some exciting cities and relaxing on the beach. A great option with Hawaii is to stop off for a few nights in Vegas on the way out and a few nights in LA or San Fransisco on the way back. We did this a couple of years ago and it was an amazing holiday, also it breaks the really long flight to Hawaii!
