Honeymoon Help

For me Bali is only worth it if you want to tour the island and see and do things, the scenery is stunning in places and the food and culture are great but the beaches for me were really disappointing and the level of poverty could be a bit of a downer on a honeymoon.

The Maldives is a very different experience I went expecting to be bored out of my mind but a week sat on the beach surrounded by amazing scenery, great food and no much to do beyond a daily snorkel on the house reef (number 1 Maldives tip make sure the house reef is a good one so you don’t need a boat for every snorkelling outing) was one of the most relaxing experiences of my life and I would go back tomorrow for a month if it wasn’t for the two young kids!

The Iceland suggestion is a total curve ball, a very very different holiday experience but one that shouldn’t be missed! Would make a great winter honeymoon the country has some amazing romantic options and the spa’s, food and scenery are all amazing! Everyone says it is mega expensive but we didn’t think it was much worse than eating well in London and if you don’t drink much booze it was pretty much comparable.

Don't mind grafting but the first thing you do is ask on here :D

Congrats fella, hope he's the one <3
And most helpful post of the week goes to this character.

Also the other person who's a comedian (a bit long winded to quote aswell lol)

To the others, thanks haha

Water activities wise, if they are there and availible they will be done. Its not a deal breaker but having options for jet skiing, snorkling or swmming with dolphins etc.. would be nice.

Currently with bali as option with 6 nights in nusa dua and another 4 somewhere else is where im leaning towards. Private villa with either pool or jacuzzi.

In terms of maldives i think that is also doable with budget (maybe slightly cheaper than bali from what ive checked), Seychelles just came as last minute option but havent read up on it

All the other places people have said like iceland, greece would be ok with me just not the mrs haha. Although saying that iceland is bloody expensive

Adjoining a trip to Singapore is a good shout. Tbh 2 days is enough unless you have deep pockets for all the mega fancy hotels. Lets you do the Night Zoo and Gardens by the Bay.

We went to Indonesia for our honeymoon in 2015. We organised everything separately ourselves and got a much better deal that way.

Stopover in Singapore for one night
Yogyakarta for the Borobudur temple
Bali for Hanging Gardens then beach time (ate very well in Bali).
Komodo national park for dragons and incredible scuba diving.

I would do all this again tomorrow given the chance. It was really amazing.

Definitely email ahead about it being your honeymoon. The accommodation will usually make an extra effort.

Mild curveball suggestion - have you considered Komodo National Park in Indonesia, it's a relatively short internal flight from Bali but beats anything you're going to find in Bali. We did 3 weeks in Indonesia in 2016, 1 week Ubud, 1 week Komodo and 1 week Sanur, on reflection, could have spent the 3 weeks at Komodo. There is plenty to do depending where you stay, can be as busy or lazy as you like across that time.

The kicker for me was the water and corals, it's hands down better than anything i've personally seen in South East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia), Caribbean, Mexico or Fiji - I absolutely fell in love with the place and would go back in a heartbeat. There is a large assortment of islands and resorts to choose from dependent on your comfort level and the activities you enjoy.

Already been touched on but you've got to work to find the beauty in Bali, it's mostly congested, sub par beaches, you've got to get out and explore on your own to not get robbed at every turn. I doubt i'd ever return.
