Honeymoon Suggestions please

Get a nice long haul to Bali, sleep the way there.

If in Europe, I'd say Rome. Canary Islands are warm all year round pretty much, and Egypt is great and really good value deals available there.

mate of mine is getting married in Slovenia, in the middle of Lake Bled. looks like an incredible place plus it's not too far south of Italy, not sure what the weather will be like though.

Went to Jamaica for a week last year. WEveryone said we were mad going for only a week, but a 9 hour flight. Same with any holiday, you always lose the first and last days anyway, so why not go for it. Stayed in a Riu hotel, great holiday. In budget too.

San Sebastian, Spain (Should still be OK in October I think)- Edit: Just noticed it will be more like November.... Probably be too cold then really.
The Gambia
Cape Verde
Mozambique if ~8hrs flying is not too long

We went to Rome and had a lovely time. October should still be pleasant and I can't recommend the hotel we stayed in highly enough (Albergo Del Senato).

Fantastic location looking over the Pantheon and lovely rooms - I was slightly shocked when we turn up and the receptionist said "Good evening Mr Hodson." but that was the level of attention to detail. The rooftop bar was lovely for a sneaky G&T before an evening out.

It has a website here.

Rome was lovely too. The forums and coliseum were just staggering.

my wife and I also honeymooned in Sorrento..its a beautiful part of Italy...positano further round the coast is also lovely

but at that time of year the season is finished...you are getting into their autumn/winter as well so I would expect it to be wet..if you want warmth you are going to have to travel further south

depends want you want to do really...rome is such an interesting place...there really is so much history in the city

we had a two centre holiday...a long weekend in rome then travel to sorrento (via Monte Cassino...fascinating place) in september its still sunny and warm..but you can still get the odd wet day..october I suspect will still be warmish..but not as sunny

OK, i think I have settled on Rome, so now I need Hotel reccomendations. I might create a new thread for that one, but we'll see how the responses go here. Thanks for all the help so far :)

I know it's not overly warm, but I think the location is fantastic and the hotels in general seem excellent. I have about 2k to spend on the Hotel for a week so I hope there's something just right out there.

there was a very expensive looking hotel right at the top of the spanish steps...it had about 5 maseratis parked outside and a few ferrari's

theres also a couple of modern boutique stlye hotels within spitting distance

everything really is within walking distance once you are in that part of town..10 minutes to the trevi fountain..another 10 or so to the colisseum ( I think we went via the pantheon and various othe piazza's with things in, lots of small streets with little traffic..interesting walking)or the big monument to Vittorio emanuel II and all the ruins of the forums are round there as well as other palaces and ruins

If I remember rightly the vatican and the basilica are on the other side of the river...a short cab ride really..or a longish walk if you wanted to explore more of the city
