Honor 9 Lite

Honor 9 Lite a decent mobile? Looks to have some good reviews. Anyone on here got one?

I,ve recommended a few cheap mobiles recently to friends, my choice was between the Honor 9 lite and the Honor 7c, I have used both phones quite a lot now and the 7c always felt smoother, and I much prefer the aluminium body as apposed to the fragile glass on the 9 Lite, the 7c is slightly lower resolution but honestly for a phone in this spec range I think it's advantagouas as you get a bit more performance out of it, also the Snapdragon 450 in the 5c performs better in games than the Kirin 659.

I have a 9 Lite, I cannot fault it for the price. When using my wife's S9 the only major improvement for me, i don't play graphically intensive games on phones, is the camera and a more vivid screen. Her phone cost 4x the price....

Going to get the 9 lite. Cheers

don't it's painfully slow.

get the xiaomi redmi note 5 or note 6 from aliexpress for the same price or cheaper.

or get the poccophone f1.

the phone is literally a lag fest. it's just not got enough grunt. i have the redmi note 5 ai dual camera version which i paid £170 for but it's now available for like £130 from aliexpress.

poccophone f1 is £230 and it smashes everything tbh. it's well worth the few quid extra.

i'm thinking of giving the wife mine to replace her honor 9 lite and getting the poccophone. i used an honor 9 lite for a month and it was painful. i gave it to the wife who smashed hers then got the redmi note 5 ai dual camera version. which is a lot better and it cost less than the honor 9 lite too.

i've used many a budget phone and the honor 9 lite just never felt right to me. i've owned samsung s6 edge, oneplus 3, etc too. decided to try budget end now and i think poccophone f1 is the one to go for.

I have not had any lag or issues with mine - seemed a decent upgrade from the moto g4/5s id had - I was looking at the poccophone recently though..... but it is £110 more than the honor 9 lite, so not quite a fair comparison.

going from a one plus 3 with 6GB of RAM and very good cpu to honor 9 lite shows how slow it is. you have went from a slow phone to another slow phone so not a fair comparison.

also i did mention the phone i upgraded to the redmi note 5 which is like £130 now. so it is a fair comparison. the redmi note 5 blows it out the water. however probably better spending the extra on the note 6 now or the poccophone if you want light speed fast.

I love Huawei but I also found the 9 lite painfully slow, honestly an Honor 8x or Honor play is considerably faster and more future proof, the pocco f1 is ridiculous value for money if you don't care about contactless payments, I know people say "well that's 'x' amount extra" but in the long run you save money with the longevity of a better 'price to performance' based phone.

I have a friend in work, she wants a new phone but really doesn't want to pay over £150 for one, she uses her phone more than anyone I know and moans how slow and buggy her current phone is, drives me nuts, she uses this device all the time yet don't understand the value of just chucking an extra hundred quid on her budget to have something that will last you a lot longer and run much smoother, more storage etc.

I'm not saying you have to go out and spend £800 on the latest phone, I honestly don't think that's worth it, but considering how much of an important role these smart devices have in our lives these days I really believe it's worth getting a device that is at the very least 'competent' by today's standards, otherwise a year down the line your in the same boat needing to upgrade again.

I'm not a 'power user', don't play games etc. I just use my 9 Lite for social media stuff, checking emails, phone and taking basic snaps. I'd like an Honor Play, but that wasn't available when I got my phone. You could get a better phone for a bit more (and if you could stretch to it I think you should), but the 9 Lite is absolutely fine for what I use it for.
