Can anyone reccomend a hoover for dust allergies, I am unable to change the carpet so need something that will suck up all the nastiness. Most people seem to mention the Dyson - but this may be due more to it being popular than efficient.

Well I suffer from a range of allergies, the worst one being dust mites and we use a dyson animal at home and it does the trick

I recommend building a tiny strip of bars, clubs, and cinemas at dust mite scale in one corner of a little-used room. This should keep them occupied, solving your problem in a humane manner.

Any vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter would be ok. Dysons work really well, but are ridiculously overpirced and the build quality is pap (entirely cheap plastic.. 'orrible :p)

Hmmm...will google and see what comes up.

The idea of doing it humanely sounds appealing, although I've heard that dustmite get loved up when drunk - not sure I really want that.

VAX seem to be the one to go for at the moment, a few family members have been buying them (can get decent ones for around £100) and they can't fault them.

They are not overpriced at all, unless you are a tramp of course :p

The plastic isn't the most attractive, but ours (DC01) lasted 5 years of everyday use before it was replaced.

Again going back to family members (I have quite a large family!) about 5 of my aunts bought a dyson when they were the 'in' thing. However they wouldn't touch them now!

Seems like other manufacturers have caught up in the bagless technology and sell at half the price.
