Hi guys,

Can monitor bleed get worse over time? I have had this monitor about three weeks, and I swear the bleed areas are getting bigger. I installed a dark game, SOMA, and realise just how bad it is. I have taken a picture, the picture does look worse than it actually is. But, it is still there and during the game I can see the white edges of the monitor enough to distract from the game. For a £1000 monitor this is unacceptable, dont you think?

Awful Bleed

What should be my next step, contacting OC and asking for a swap? I do not have the original box that it came with, would I have to find one?

Thanks for the information,
Spencer

That certainly is unacceptable if your photo is an accurate representation of what it looks like in person. You can contact OCUK and see what they say, but you are outside the normal return window. As suggested, you can try tweaking the brightness and other settings, but if it's that bad I doubt it will do very much.

It almost certainly isn't an accurate representation, but if it looks like that in a photo, it must look pretty damn awful in person anyway. And I would not be happy with it at all... I would have returned it immediately.

As for backlight bleed getting worse over time, I don't think that is something which happens. Perhaps it has just started bothering you more and more..?

Hi guys, well this will certainly suck if they do not take it back. This is clearly a fault with the monitor - I did do a check when it came and I swear it has gotten worse. Last night was the first time I have sat down and played a dark-ish game, so immediately noticed it more then.

I will give OC a call, but ugh.. Just ugh. Can hear my partner now "I told you not to get an expensive monitor, they always break".. lol.

I've not heard of BLB getting worse (maybe it can, I don't know), but you certainly will notice it more if you turn off the lights and play a dark game, no question. Personally, it's the first thing I do when I get a monitor, because that's always where you're going to see it at its worst.
