A lake!
Take a look at my temps, this is with the side on as I use it day to day:

Hot, no?

Now look with the side off:

Big change, yes?

Here's what the inside of my case looks like:

What can I do to bring the temps closer together? I want to sort out that jumble of cables by the hard disks, but I don't know how to do it effectively, and I'm not cutting my case up. Anyone got any ideas?

ALL fans are at about 2000RPM, except the PSU which does what it likes.

Temps look great whats wrong with them ?

Rather cold actually :)

Remember that TAT reports higher temps so I'm guessing your cpu is around 50C full load.

Check this over with everest / speedfan etc etc etc or reboot quickly and straight into the BIOS and have a quick look at your PC Health

Turn the HDs in the bottom around the other way if they will fit and route the cables behind the HD cage.

What I would do though is buy a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter which allows you to fit a 120mm fan in the front ( http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Accessories/HDD_Kits.htm ), mount the 2 drives at the bottom in that and route the cables behind the drives as much as possible. Also remove the HD cage to allow for better air flow.

You should be able to put the PCI-e and 24pin connectors between the 5.25 bays and the side panel rather than in the middle also.

Erm, TAT and coretemp report the correct temp. It is the other programs that read a lower one from the socket rather than the CPU itself. Saying that the temps aren't that bad, I'm not sure why some people kept saying the Vanessa L was incredible when it is on the same level as a freezer 7 pro, maybe a few C better in most cases.

Whats the vcore on? Auto? Turn up your exhaust fan, as that could limit your CPU fan's effectiveness.

Is there a fan pulling cold air into the case? Oh, I see it.

Yeh true but for most of us old timers who are used to reading inaccurate sensor temps we find the TAT temperatures a bit misleading even though they may be more accuarate :D

It isn't that TAT misreads temps... the problem is that it creates around 20% more load on the CPU than the CPU is designed to actually take. Intel suspended TAT for QuadCores as it caused them to heat up so hot that they saw an abundance of dead CPUs being RMA'd back to them. TAT is a "power virus". The temps you see running TAT will be hotter than ANY other software that inflicts load on the CPU, therefore using it as a basis on whether your temps are good enough or not is rather pointless.

Getting a cooling setup that will keep TAT-inflicted temps down is solely for that purpose, as nothing other than TAT will create a heatload that high.

To simulate actual real-world full load, rather than TAT's effective full-load + 20%, run TAT at 80% load rather than 100%. That will put the CPU at the fullest load that you'll see using any other piece of software.
