well just had my much loved dog put to sleep after 14 years and it was the worst thing ive ever had too do. saying bye to her was aweful, plus im working in 3 hours. going to be a tough night.

:( Sorry to hear that. Never nice to lose a pet, it's like losing a member of the family.

That's so sad. One of my cats is knocking on a bit and I'm truly dreading the inevitable day.

Just treasure the good times...

Sorry about that dude, my mom called me from home once (far away) to let me know that my bestest Buddy drowned (Stoffel the Pug), just before I was doing a night-shift.
You have all my empathies mate :(

Chin up mate, things will get easier after a good nights sleep, might take time to come to terms with the fact of her not being around, but all will be fine were sure!

I had that happen to me, the day before I was coming home for Xmas when at University. Best mate, Spike the cairn terrier, after 14yrs of chasing rabbits and eating everything he could lay his paws on finally passed away. He barked at the postman one last time and fell asleep next to the radiator.

It really broke my heart but at least he was always healthy & had a good innings. Think of the good times you had together, and think of it in a place where it's always walk-time, endless rabbits to chase and as much chocolate as it can eat.

Really feel for you chap......

thank you everyone very much appreciated. its the best thing for and shes peaceful now but still not nice. watching her slip away and then carrying her out the vets car was very difficult, but i wanted to do that last thing for her. rather than the vet carrying her out.
would love to get my head down and sleep but im on a night shift, hope its a busy one.

Really sorry to hear that - at least you were there with him till the last. That's the least you could have done for him

Yea, lets hope you have a busy night shift. Get to bed exhausted and cope with your loss tomorrow

well that was a really difficult night at work, found it really hard to keep my compsure and proffesionalism. its going to take an age to get used to her not being there.thank you everyone it means a lot to me. would never get another dog, would never get one. she was the best dog you could ever have, to me no other dog would come close. just popped in to my parents on my way back from shift as my dog lived with my parents. went in to the house and it just felt cold no gemma to come and greet me. parents are very upset as am i. feel like crying, horrible feeling. a bit selfish really as its was kindest thing for her she wasnt happy and was suffering

As you say mate; kindest thing to do if she was suffering ... a shame we humans can't get it done.

I dread the time when I have to make that decision about for my dog.

Remember the good times and not the end and it'll get better ....

Kind regards.

I know what you mean mate. I still miss my collie cross after nearly 10 years. And his scent has finally worn off his old collar so I don't even have that any more either. :(

Although I'm starting to consider another one now.
