Hosepipe Ban

Call 999 and tell them what this criminal is up to. You need to get this sicko put behind bars
That's what happened last time I waved my hosepipe around in the garden at night.
The cops told me to put it away as it was nothing they hadn't seen before.

You didn't have it hanging out of the zip in your trousers perchance, did you? ;)

I love people that ask for Moral advice on a forum full of unemployed, student layabouts. :D

Rich

You're thinking of letting this sick and twisted criminal get off the hook? Give me his address and I'll get MI5 on the case. It might even be worth planting some class A drugs and kiddie porn in his house to make sure he doesn't get away with this vile and disgusting crime.

You are right Scuzi. Ive spoken to my team of Laywers and they think we can build a case framing him for 9/11 and the holocaust. That hosepipe inciddent is just the last shred of evidence they need.

If you see lots of 4x4s with blacked out windows and guys in sharp suits with automatic weapons in your area tonight operation "Hydo-punsih" is in action.

If you dont, damn those guys are good.

Hi All

After taking my two dogs out for their last walk of the night (11:30pm ish) I heard what I thought was wind in the trees.

Realising that it wasn't in fact windy I investigated further.

It would seem that one of my neighbours is watering his garden late at night even though we have had a hosepipe ban in place for months.

Should I report him?

And if yes who too?

Thanks

Rich

what a joke.

No, I seriously doubt England will run out of water lol.
Don't report him.

Think some of the replies to all of this are a bit ridiculous and it is something that people should take more seriously. Yes its also stupid we are suffering a hose pipe ban. The best thing to do would be to remind him that there is a hose pipe ban and then if he carries on perhaps report him then.

There are a lot of sarcastic replies about this guy thinking about reporting him, lets face it though, if everyone did this and the country then suffered from a drought (spelling?!) which is a bit extreme but possible, the sarcasm would soon go. The guy obviously has some moral fibre and is worried about this. This neighbour is obviously breaking the law no matter how petty it may seem, and I truley believe the law should be followed no matter how much you disagree with it.

Update

While walking the dog again I heard him using the hose so went and spoke to him.

He told me he didn't know that there was a ban in place and immediately stopped using it. I did get the feeling that he felt like he had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

So all is well

Thanks again for all the suggestions

Rich

Don't report him, he's only looking out for his garden plants. ;)

I reckon the increase in hosepipe bans and the rise of "Kosovan Car washed" - well, around Stoke, anyway! - are inextricably linked.

Theorys anybody ?

I wouldnt report him, we have a water ban and loads of houses leave the hose on at night you can hear a trickle.

Plants are very expensive so if they die they will probably get the water company to pay up.

Couple weeks ago I even saw sprinkler on a front lawn

Being a persistant offender of over car washing (black car = dirty as soon as you've washed it) I am disgusted with the current situation.

I have now been forced to use buckets to wash my car due to southern water's hosepipe ban, and have actually had arguments in the street when nosy do-gooders walk past actively looking for a hose.

The stupid thing is, I only use the hose for rinsing the car using a closed end hosepipe gun, which actually uses less water than several buckets of water.

Would I shop him? Hell no. The water we use for watering gardens and washing cars, pales in insignificance to the millions of litres of water the water companies **** away through their leaking pipe networks. Southern Water have failed for the second year to meet leak fixing targets despite record profits of millions/billions. We're doing our bit - now you do yours.

A watering can is admittedlty a much slower but just as effective way of watering ones plants...

Pop round and remind him that there is a hose pipe ban on and that using it is illegal. Seems reasonable to me.

Definitely DON'T shop him without talking to him and giving him a chance first. Very un-neighbourly.

You didn't read the reply five posts up then? That's exactly what he did ;)

OP. Nice one for not going straight for kill. Reminding him was the best thing. He probably did know and was just telling a white lie, but at least now he won't be doing it.
